Music

One of the best things about this movie is the almost non-existent score. For the most part, the show is left to its own distractions. A big plus.

I agree. The music not only enhanced the movie, but was in perfect accord with the storyline, giving it that heightened sense of feeling lost or lonely which is essential to the plot.

It sounds very much like the North by Northwest soundtrack, which I think is one of Hermann's best scores.

Hi Blanche, YES, I started watching this film after the credits were over and I immediately recognized the score as Hermann's. I was reminded of North by Northwest as Danny is chased up the snow covered hill. It reminded me of the Mt. Rushmore scene. Do you think Hitchcock was inspired by "On Dangerous Ground" when he blocked "North by Northwest"?

reply

Hard to say, but I suppose it's possible. I was really struck by the similarities as well. I love Hermann's music, and I think North by Northwest is his best score, very exciting.
