With so many film noirs being released lately encluding most of Robert Ryan's
what is causing this classic noir to be held up? IMDB does not seem to list the studio who made the films they provide info on. Was this an RKO film??
I also have never seen it shown on Turner classic movies either, and I don't think it was ever realsed on video either. Anyone know why this is so?
Well, I just checked TCM's site and it's scheduled for airing on 01/25/2006 04:15 AM. I'll have my TIVO set and ready to burn to disc. Herrmann's score is outstanding to say the least.

shareWell, there is a dvd, and a good one too - but in France. Original english soundtrack - french subtitles removable. Look it up on www.amazon.fr, the french title is La Maison dans l'ombre - may be a good deal while waiting for a US release - God only knows how long... Good Luck! /M

I don't know if it was ever on video, but there was a lovely Laser Disc of it, so I'm assuming since whatever restorations probably needed to be done were done for the LD that releasing it on DVD would be pretty easy, if they'd just get around to it.

This was on video a long time ago--I know because I own a copy! This is one of my favorite film noirs & if it is coming to DVD that's wonderful news. Border Incident is also pretty good--a tough, violent film about the US Border Patrol. Lady in the Lake is a cool movie too--it's shot entirely from the point of view of the main character. An interesting attempt that pays off pretty well.
shareI agree LADY IN THE LAKE is great I own it on VHS. Two great noirs that have never been released are I WALK THE LINE with Bert Lancaster and Curt Douglus
and CRIME WAVE. I also hear the late noir THE BROTHERS RICO is quite good.
All time best late noir? Orsen Well's FORCE OF EVIL hands down
Just saw "The Brothers Rico" at the Palm Springs Noir festival last month. It's not that great a film although Richard Conte is superb as susual, and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. James Darren, the youngest Rico brother.
Orson Welles' late noir is "Touch of Evil," not the earlier John Garfield vehicle, "Force of Evil."
