..every male in this film has a tiny pencil mustache, with William Schallert (Patty Duke's poppo) going one better with a goatee to match.
Funny how young people are always copying fashion styles from the 50s but the pencil mustache has never made a comeback (unless you count Bob Dylan...or Prince)

The late, great Johnny Carson used to wear one of those pencil-thin mustaches when he played the immortal Art Fern on the "Tea Time Movie" bit on the "Tonight Show."

I always thought pencil-then mustaches reflected sophistication (i.w. The Thin Man movies).
