TCM Remembers TMFPX 2011

This year's TCM salute to movie folks who died in 2011 actually contains two short clips from TMFPX. The first one occurs near the frames of Roberts Blossom (as he stands up to see the space craft zoom by in Close Encounters). This clip shows the bright orb of Planet X as it approaches the earth. There is no source given, you simply have to have seen TMFPX enough times to recognize it. The other clip involves Margaret Field who was in TMFPX. She is shown touching the outside of the alien space craft as it sits on the foggy moors of England. Pretty unbelievable any way you look at it!

wow! you're very observant!

I saw that too, and thought it was great.

Now, if TCM could only start crediting the film's star, Robert Clarke, in its listings. Whenever they run this movie, they ignore Clarke completely, in both their What's Playing guide and on screen. The guide always lists three stars, and for TMFPX it lists Margaret Field, Raymond Bond and William Schallert. In its on-screen listings of what's coming up, the two stars shown are Field and Bond. The last time I saw this at an hour when Robert Osborne introduced it, he made no mention of Robert Clarke at all, instead dwelling on Field (both before and after the movie) and briefly naming Schallert and Bond. Incredible! As I've asked about TCM on one or two other sites: Don't these people ever watch the movies they show?
