B movies ever made and its also a western noir. Very different from all the other Custer sagas as it concentrates on other brave men in a really rotten situation. Could very well have been written by Sam Fuller as it is similar to his WWII works. Wonderfully cast and beautifully filmed. A small masterwork for the ages.

I watched this movie last night after ordering the DVD from Amazon on a disc with "Rimfire."
I agree that it is an excellent western with good performances by all.
Reed Hadley appears in both "Little Big Horn" and "Rimfire."

Truth is stranger than fiction, but fiction must make sense.
It's not "noir", but it is a decent low-budget western. The outdoor scenes were well done, but the scenes inside the fort looked like painted cardboard sets.
