Wonderful acting
I was truly impressed by Brigitte Fossey. She was adorable and such a good actress especially in the final scene which had me crying.

shareI believe she gives the greatest performance by a child in film history.
sharei think so, too
it's so difficult for a 6 year old child to make such a performance, she was exceptional for a girl of her age
Best child performance ever in my opinion. I can't think of another child of that age who gave a better performance. Even Dakota Fanning, whose acting abilities are far beyond her years, can't come close.
This film is such a rarity...a film told from a child's point of view that is never sappy or manipulative. The emotion was real and so is the effect on the audience. I was heartbroken by the ending. What an amazing movie. The phrase "they don't make movies like this anymore" has never been more well-earned.
I hope The Spirit of the Beehive moves me as much as this film.

The Spirit of Beehive is also a great movie. But not like this one, it's somewhat confusing. I like it, but don't think I've got the point.
shareSpirit of the Beehive is an amazing film and also features some of the best child acting ever. At one point I had a good solid idea of what the film meant, but it's been so long now since I've seen it that I can't remember. I need to re-watch that one soon.

I agree. The greatest performance by a child in film history tied with Victoire Thivisol in Ponette.
shareThis. Fossey and Victoire Thivisol gave the two best child performances ever recorded on the celluloid. Actually these two are among the best performances ever in the history of cinema.
sharethe kids were good
so many movies, so little time
They put Hollywood child actors to shame.
