It's all there. Tears and laughter, anxieties, hope, him & her conflicts in two generations. Honest movie. Wonderful movie. Minnelli in top form. S. Tracy feels old, loss of youth, cut to: takes baby for a walk, plays with boys, loses the child (in himself), finds the child (in himself), ends up happy together with the child who gets his name. Superb.

The only thing missing is Kay's "bump". The censors of the day prevented it from being showed, I guess.

She did wear a couple of maternity outfits, though (which were actually kind of cute. Contrast that with a movie from the 30s like "Stagecoach" where the second female lead was supposed to be 9 months and still had a superb figure and a dress with a bustle to boot!
