Loved this film!
It is very relevant today in this crazy world.
shareJust saw it for the first time. It's alright. I kinda liked it but too many things didn't really add up. I mean, no one recognized Klaatu when he's walking around, and when Gort is walking and the camera is behind him, you can see his suit bending around his knees, you can tell it's just some type of inflated cloth or nylon or whatever, not metal. Seriously, they couldn't come up with a more realistic suit? Plus, Klaatu and the kid going on trips together really bogged the film down in my view. It could have been better, the military was too aggressive as well. Shooting at Klaatu could have started an intergalactic conflict. I guess they never thought of this. lol...
But I will say, there are plenty of suspenseful moments here that make it a fairly entertaining movie but you can tell it was made in 1951, not that there aren't any good films from that era but for today's audiences, it's lacks a bit of sophistication that we're accustomed to.
Still, it's not too bad, I'll give it a 5.9 out of 10. I might watch the 2008 remake just to compare them. It definitely reminds of that movie Arrival (2016) but I would have to say Arrival is better than this.
Just watched it and thought it was very cheesy and dated. If they made this movie today it would have been laughed at.
shareAgreed, and in retrospect, perfectly illustrates that for all of our acquired technology and "worldly sophistication" compared to the 1950's America that provides the background for the movie.....we haven't learned a G.D. thing...
