It seems strange to me that when Klaatu escapes the hospital and the newspapers put a picture on the front page, it is the one of Klaatu wearing his full face helmet. I mean, when they had him in the hospital, why didn't anyone think to take pictures for the record! Also, when they disrobed him for the doctors, didn't 't they see the "miracle salve" he had with him?
shareThat's a good point, although I suspect they thought he might move through the city with helmet on to hide his face. Of course, if no one knew what he looked like he could move unnoticed. But it does seem like reporters if not government men would have photographed A VISITOR FROM ANOTHER PLANET when they could (in the hospital room) although he didn't really live that long.

And without the newspaper photos, no one would have thought it strange for someone to be walking around the city wearing a space helmet.
I believe the news reporters on the TV said that the Army were refusing to release his identity.
