Bluray - wire removal?

Did they remove the wires in the scene where Gort lifts Patricia Neal's character so it can carry her into the space ship? If I remember correctly the actor in the suit did not have the strength to lift Neal so they had to use wires and they were very noticeable on the DVD.

You can see them on the blu ray and that's fine with me. Tinkering with any movie after the theatrical release is annoying. Messing with classic movies is a terrible thing. I don't mind offering unrated or director's cuts as options, but don't start removing, adding or digitally altering a movie to make it 'better'.
