This was not a typical 50's tabloid Monster From Space movie

With the casting and the director (top notch Robert Wise), the producers were obviously trying to present a real movie about a subject that had been trashed so many times with cheap productions.

My biggest nitpick for the movie would be, if Klaatu was so brilliant, why did he not foresee that some dumb soldier might take a potshot at him and wear a material that acted as a bulletproof vest and repel bullets - if I was him stepping out to face earth people (after what I had learned about earth people from monitoring their news), that's what I would have worn!

This positively infantile preoccupation with bosoms!Terry-Thomas about US 1963.Hasnt changed much!
