Working wristwatch NOT a plot hole!

Didn't know where else to post this. Wristwatches were spring-powered and unaffected by a neutralization of electricity.

They could be affected by magnetic fields, though, so if the weapon or process that stopped all electrical devices or processes, with the exceptions noted in the film, involved or generated a magnetic field, we could expect that wristwatches could have stopped. However, I agree with your point. I saw this again yesterday and thought the same thing, during the elevator scene.

Most wristwatches of the time would be subject to magnetic fields, but anti-magnetic watches were common in the 50s. My dad had an anti magnetic watch that used a nivarox alloy (IIRC). Presumably, such a watch should be immune to a strong magnetic field such as the one in this film.

Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.
