THIS is the first movie that has friendly aliens

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind is credited with being the first movie that depicts aliens as being friendly. I think this movie is.

A little late, but you might be right. Up until that time, the classic "flying saucer" movie was about aggressive aliens. Really, it would have been paradise if humans heeded Klatuu's message and joined the peaceful community of planets that he belonged to. Klaatu, despite his enormous power, was indeed a good guy.

Probably would have shared technology, medical techniques, farming tech, etc. Too bad they roughed him up before he left.

Not only friendly, but also dignified.

Would have been even cooler if he'd been a friendly, dignified bug-eyed monster, but I guess that's asking a bit too much of Hollywood circa 1951.
