Does the robot have a stun setting for his eye blast? Might have been nice if he did not have to incinerate those 2 guards at the end of the movie.
shareHe did not incinerate any guards. He incinerated their guns only, as well as other guns, tanks and heavy weaponry.

I believe he did zap 2 guards when Helen came to deliver Klaatu's speech to Gort.

shareI thought Gort knocked out the 2 guards when Klaatu came to the saucer in order to set things up to neutralize the earth's power.
Later on when Helen came to Gort to give him Klaatu's message,Gort used his eye ray to disintegrate the soldiers.
I checked that scene, and you are right, he did zap those two guards. To answer your first question, I really don't know if his ray has a stun setting, I'd say it doesn't. I think those robot policemen use deadly force only; it's intended as a strong deterrent. And Gort used it only after his master has been killed. Prior to that no one was harmed. Those two guards were actually the only two victims.

However,I always felt that there wasn't one that Gort could not have taken in a fight.
