Just saw this film and loved it but noticed the part in the radio broadcast early on where it's speculated that the alien must have come from Mars or Venus because they are not only the closest planets but the only ones that could possibly sustain life-was the fiery nature of Venus not known at the time?
shareWhen the movie was made in 1951, very little was known about Venus other than its orbit interval around the sun. I copied the below information from nasa.gov/venus:

I noticed that Venus was spoken of it in that way. Mind you I don't think that there is much super-rudimentary life on Mars either.
