Funny episode, but how did Lucy avoid getting arrested for driving without a license? I mean, she even describes interacting with a cop after her accident in the Holland Tunnel. It was pretty nice of him not to arrest her.
Also, I love the part where Lucy recants taking both cars to the mechanic, I think that actually worked better as a spoken anecdote than had we actually seen it unfold onscreen.
I don't remember Lucy referencing a cop, only that she backed up the traffic, although it's been years since I've seen this episode, as I don't care for it.
My problem with it is its poor pacing. To me, it's a very sluggish offering. I also find it ridiculous that they leave for their trip one or two episodes later, and suddenly Lucy has her license and is taking turns driving!
Ball is great describing what happened when the cars became unhooked. She tells a similar story to Ethel in Connecticut after she goes berserk on the lawn mower...and it's much funnier, in my opinion.
..
Yeah, Lucy says something along the lines of "The policeman mentioned that traffic was backed up all the way into New Jersey". So there was a cop involved, and amazingly he didn't arrest her.
It is ridiculous that she's apparently a full driver an episode or two later. They could have just said that she doesn't drive very much and needed to brush up on it as opposed to not driving at all. It would have made more sense.
