Very interesting. My first thought is that Kidman appears to eerily have the REAL Lucille Ball down in terms of her voice and phrasing, but Javier Bardem looks ten years too old to play Arnaz. The accent is spot on, but the tone of voice isn't and he simply isn't as handsome as Arnaz.
Timeline: the Ricardo apartment is thoroughly recreated, but Kidman seems to be doing the grape stomping bit. My point is, exactly which "week" is this film set in?
One shocker: Bardem gets top billing...over Nicole Kidman, an Oscar-winner? Bardem is a great actor, but I perceive her as the bigger star.
One other thought: is it just me, or does the lighting look super dark?
Yes it did seem a little dark but maybe that's what they're going for? And I did a little research on the film and supposedly they took creative liberties and certain events that take place in that week are from different years. So while the movie is supposed to portray true stories, some of the timelines are altered. Lucie Arnaz said she saw the movie and enjoyed it. Just like there is one shot of Nicole as Lucy in bandages, and its the 'new' apartment, but it seems like it's from a season 1 episode. So they took creative license with certain things.
sharePretty bad, considering how well even a casual viewer would notice such flubs.
This seems like a rush job, very Amazon-TV movie, with only a two week run in theaters.
Kidman is obviously aiming for an Oscar nod, but I think Kristen Stewart will take home every award as the tragic Lady Di.

I didn't say she DESERVES an Oscar, only that, traditionally, actors who portray tragic figures tend to win (think Freddy Mercury and Judy Garland).
I like Stewart generally, but I have no intention of seeing this film, as Royalty doesn't interest me.
