Amazing ricochets in the final showdown *spoilers*

I couldn't stop cringing at the ricochets. You'd see one rock explode, and then a second rock would explode right after it. Fantastic effects. Probably scientifically "slow", but aside from that, I was mesmerized. I don't think I've seen anything like it. Such a small detail, but it made their positions in the rocks seem a thousand times more dangerous.

Usually, I wonder why people shoot at "nothing" in movies. But here, they had a good chance (and did) of hitting each one or another by bouncing those bullets off what would otherwise be a good hiding place.

Yeah, I didn't remember that from my first viewing - but last night I rewatched this classic and couldn't stop cringing at the final shootout!

The Doctor is out. Far out.

I agree. I was even wondering if this was the first (and one of the few) film that showed that bullets don't just disappear if they don't hit a person.
