Strong supporting cast-Preminger hallmark

The small players round out the story.
Willie Bender(Don Appell) trying to save his neck( parole violation) in the back of the cab,pleading with Dixon,his accent is perfect.Martha(Ruth Donnelly),her banter with Dixon was great and the land ladies(Mills) lonliness comes through and realizing she was waved to was great.

I first saw this movie when I was 22yrs old...22 yrs later I still think its a great movie and appreciate the talent of Otto Preminger
