Strong supporting cast,Preminger hallmark
All the bit players were great-Willie in the cab,fretting over violating his parole-great Brooklynese accent.Marthas restaurant scenes-the banter between her and Dixon was like two old friends.The lonely landlady at her post-then realizing she wasnt waved to convinced the Lt. he had his man.I first rented this movie in 1991-I was 22-me and my girlfriend felt like we discovered gold-Film Noir at its best.
Well 22yrs later I still look forward to watching it when played on TCM....
