Have you had a chance to see this film? It's terrific!

No, I still have not seen it – but I love these noirs, and you have excellent taste!
shareDo I have excellent taste in noir? Well, I think I do, but some people disagree because I dislike some of the most popular ones: The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, The Big Heat, The Big Combo. Also, I couldn't get through The Third Man a second time (though I loved it the first time).
Some of my favorites are:
Laura
The Woman in the Window
Where the Sidewalk Ends
The Window
In a Lonely Place
On Dangerous Ground
The Strange Love of Martha Ivers
The House on Telegraph Hill
Lured
Undercurrent
Dark Passage
The Verdict (1946)
Ladies in Retirement (does this one count as noir?)
Double Indemnity
Pushover
The Man Who Cheated Himself
The Asphalt Jungle
Elevator to the Gallows
Sorry Wrong Number
and I'm probably missing a handful of noirs.
Besides The Third Man, I can't seem to get through Black Angel and House of Strangers anymore, but I did like those two at one time and I have seen them a few times each.
The Bribe and Quicksand are good ones, too, but not my faves.

That's a half-excellent list; the other half I haven't seen. I'm not really big on films like "The Maltese Falcon" or "The Big Sleep" either because I'm drawn to low-budget B-movies and obscurities.
shareDo you ever watch any of the early 1930s whodunnits (B-movies)?

Yes, I have seen a handful of early '30s B-movies. These are more noirs, horrors or dramas than strictly whodunnits:
"Dance, Fools, Dance" (1931)
"Platinum Blonde" (1931)
"Safe in Hell" (1931)
"East of Shanghai" aka "Rich and Strange" (1931, early Hitchcock)
"Hell's House" (1932), early Bette Davis, though she's hardly in it
"Island of Lost Souls" (1932)
"The Mummy" (1932)
"Freaks" (1932)
"Mystery of the Wax Museum" (1933)
Do any of these ring a bell, except for the obvious ones like "Freaks" and "The Mummy"? Like a lot of my viewing, these are fairly random and don't necessarily represent the best of the era.
Nope, I haven't seen those. Aside from whodunnits, I have seen:
Baby Face
Picture Snatcher
The Public Enemy
and I'm probably forgetting a handful of films here.

If you decide to take up watching early 1930s whodunnits, please feel free to check out a couple of the threads on the film noir board. Some of us have been discussing early 30s whodunnits there.

Thanks for the tip. I'll drop by the film noir board one of these days. My interest in film tends to ebb and flow, and these days it's ebbing so I'm not watching that much.
I believe I've seen "Baby Face and "The Public Enemy," at least in part, but that was years ago and I don't remember them well. Those titles I mentioned were once I voted on here, so it was easy to track them down. I wouldn't have remembered them out of the blue otherwise. Sometimes it's hard for me to remember the era of titles going back that far.
