Pirate stereotypes
I read somewhere that most of the 21st Century pirates stereotypes originated with Treasure Island, in particular this version. Everything from "Arrggh!" to "Avast, ye lubbers," to "Fifteen men on a dead man's chest, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum," to treasure maps, peg legs, eye patches, and parrots on the shoulder were inspired by this film.
Any truth to this? After all, no one is left alive who knew anyone who knew anyone from those days!
I intend to live forever.
So far, so good.
