Child friendly??

I don't think I've ever seen this, but my nephew is really interested in this genre. I was wondering if people thought this was ok for a 6 year old to watch??

I was going to get him this on DVD, as I have bought everything else for him. Would people recommend this??

It depends. If you're really strict, probably not. But it has no foul language and minimal blood in it. People get shot, but you never see anything graphic.

I let my 5 year old watch it and he thought it was okay. He didn't dwell on the violence but he struggled with some of the dialog. He enjoyed Swiss Family Robinson much more.

When I watched this as a kid about that same age I absolutely loved it. Along with the Fess Parker Davy Crockett. The part where Hawkins is stabbed is a little scarey though...

Actually he is pinned to the mast by a knife thrown through his shoulder. Since he is leaning forward with the tilt of the mast at least the knife helps keep him from falling, so I always thought it was scarey when he pulled out the knife at he risk of falling off the mast.

Treasure Island was shown on the Walt Disney show back in the 1950s. Thus it was considered okay for families and children back in the 1950s.

I used to watch this movie as a kid. I would show it to my kids.

In the version I just saw there is a close-up of a pirate being shot in the face. Only a splash of red, but a bit rawer than I expected from Disney.

Yes, it's Disney so of course it's ok fo your nephew, just like the episode "Taylorng Swift", March 6, 2020 of Gabby Duran and the Unsittables where characters plot to skin another person in order to sell their skin for profit.
