Opening score

The score played as the opening credits roll.....it has a regal pompish feel to it.

I can't get it out of my head. Can someone identify this for me? thanx

I believe it is "Polonaise in E-flat major" by Dvorak - - not completely sure, would need to hear it again to confirm. Second guess would be Polonaise from " A Life for the Tsar" by Glinka. Very sure it's one or the other. I also think the "Moulin Rouge" music is a polka by Johann Strauss - - odd choice for a can-can ! You'd have thought they'd have used something by Offenbach.

I didn't like those opening credits - the turning of the pages just seemed so abrupt.

"Somewhere along the line the world has lost all of its standards and all of its taste."

thanx for the reply, doroberts-1.
I did finally find out what it was. It is: Meyerbeer's Coronation March from La Prophete
