Will someone 'spoil' this for me?

I've been trying to see this on TCM twice now, and missed it both times. I understand the premise of the story, and I know it's 'based on an urban legend' - that supposedly everyone knows. But I don't!

Won't someone please tell me whatever happened to the brother? How it ends? I'm eternally grateful if you do. Things like this bug me!
