I had the great good fortune to meet Miss Simmons and speak alone with her in 1991. She was very friendly and gracious and down to earth. As a result I sympathize and pull for her even more when I see her on the screen, as in this perfect part. Even at age 20 or 21 she was a polished actress and I don't believe she ever had acting lessons.
That encounter was a special experience in my life. Thank you Jean, and RIP.
I should have added that in person she was beautiful and sweet as well.
