'Accents' ??

Never been to NO in my life so I really wouldn't know but, right off the bat, the cops - everyone it seems, sounds like they have NYC accents. Kazan apparently knew the streets of NO so I'm reticent to criticize but really .... I'm only 20 mins or so into it - Oh, and Widmark talks like a thug rather than any doctor I've ever met and the cops and every official sound like, at the very least, Yank.

Also, I just now heard a bit of back and forth between 2 characters (typing, wasn't looking at the screen) with the word "fumigate" reminiscent of the lines in The Godfather: "Watch we don't exterminate you ..." just before the GF's driver caught a few in the back of the head (can't for the life of me remember his name now but I know we won't 'see him no more') Anyhow, it sounded like the wording was identical just with the word fumigate rather than exterminate.
*Please excuse the above mess - I'm typing with one eye on the screen and both ears. Not easy :-)

People in New Orleans commonly have a very 'Brooklyn' accent. It spread from the Irish. NOT 'Southern'.

All true. I lived there for many years.

To me, it seemed like a slowed down version of a New York accent, with 'y'all' instead of 'you guys'.
