The whole story after the first ten minutes didn't need to happen (spoilers)

The husband snuck back into the house, tried to find the gun where he had stashed it, then went toward his wife threateningly. She knew he had plotted to kill her. She happened to have found the gun and was holding it. She reacted by shooting him in self defense. She had a police detective as a witness. That should have been the end. Their elaborate efforts to hide the shooting and run away were unnecessary and didn't make any sense. I liked the movie, though.

you still liked it ??

Yes, because it was stylish and entertaining, with interesting actors and great photography, in spite of the gigantic flaw in the plot. They can't all be masterpieces, but sometimes they're fun to watch anyway.

A great case for justifiable homicide/self defense could have been made, but I continued watching the movie to see where it would go. I did enjoy it, but came away thinking this film was the basis for the movie China Moon.

The problem is the police detective she had for a witness was her boyfriend. If they had gone on to have a future together the husband's killing was going to look very suspicious. With no proof that the husband had plotted to kill her or that she had shot him in self defense. It would appear to anybody else that the husband had caught them red-handed in their love affair. And that she had shot the husband deliberately because of that.

You make some good points.
