Just saw this on PBS and found it quite amusing that when Bottomly knew for sure that Flame was a plant by the soap company, he came to her apt. and got a hair brush as Flame gets backed over a chair. Then the camera showed Vincent Price listening to the sounds of smacks and Flames' muffled cries.
So funny for this 1950 movie to imply that she was getting spanked but not to show it! That would not have made it past the censors! LMAO
So was it an inside joke that his name was Bottomly?!?

Ironically, that scene probably wouldn't make it though even today. Some women's group would organize an online petition to have it scrubbed.

Actually it probably would have made it past the censors. there are quite a few films from the 40s and 50s which show women getting spanked, even some from the early 60s. Not to mention at least three episodes of I Love Lucy.

If you hadn't mentioned this I would have.

In this case it was interesting that the man was not her husband. Usually spanking a full grown woman would be a husbandly privilege.
