Judy Holliday's voice and other problems.

I've never really seen this film in it's entirety but it just reminds me of some very simplified TV comedy that was on the early 50s. Most annoying is Judy Holidays voice that is so screeching I really couldn't understand her half the time. In addition she made her voice go up and down and growl for no discernable reason. Didn't anyone get upset that Crawford (miscast) tells her to "Shut Up" over and over. The gin card scene looked like it took 30 takes for them to get it right and even then it was just nonsence. I really liked how Billie was shown the whole of Washington DC and there doesn't seem to be anyone else in town. Even the musuems were empty.
No it's not slapstick. It's not sophisticated. It's like when you see a Moss Hart or Kauffman film today....you've seen funnier before and you wonder what the fuss was all about.

Judy Holliday--too screechy. Broderick Crawford--too loud and obnoxious. William Holden seems good in it.

Whatever. I don't get it.

I absolutely loved this film. It was a comedy folks.

Did I really say what I said? I guess I did. I'll need to revisit this movie sometime.
