Bad line, but man, Marilyn could say anything and make it sound sexy!
Otherwise this movie was really good. I saw Kubrick's The Killing before this, so I couldn't help but feel Hayden's acting isn't that good because he seems like the same character here too.
"Do I have to talk to him...can't I just talk...to you?"
Marilyn! So fresh and young and THIN. She's downright slim-hipped in those lounging pajamas. And an unobtrusive bosom--her fabled bustiness depended on her weight. Here she was a sylph and this is a very modern-looking Monroe, body-wise. *She would not be so trim again until 1961-62.
I agree totally. She is such a Syren in this movie. "Uncle Lon" is simply trapped by her appeal. She brings out the worst in him. And there is a lot of of lowlife qualities in that man. It is a credit to the movie director (Great Huston)that he finds such a vehicle to show Emmerich is doomed from the start.
denis, you're right - I guess her fame depended on being heavy, because she was slim and sexy in this movie. That black dress was hot! And it really showed off her trim waist.
I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
"You big banana head!" "Do I have to talk to him...can't I just talk...to you?" were the funniest lines! I think Huston wanted a little comedy just before a grim scene.
"Two more swords and I'll be Queen of the Monkey People." Roseanne
And if you notice, as she says it, she leans a little on the door, and a muscle in her upper arm pops slightly! Those weights she used occasionally did their work.
Ya wanna see her at her sexiest ? Ever see "Niagara" (1953) ? I've never been into womens clothes ( (:-) ) but damn, does she wear that red dress !! That and the hair/make up job they did, wow !! Her and Peters remind me of Ginger and whats her name ?) on "Gilligans Island". Ginger was always my favorite (as a little kid no less) but the other one was hot too I guess but more in a 'joc' /athletic kinda way (not for me) - no wonder I can't think of her name right now. Anyhow, besides "Niagara" being a good movie, Marilyn just melts the damn screen - I don't think shes ever looked hotter/better in any other film/TV appearances.Hot Hot Hot !!
Niagara did sort of push the envelope, with the lingerie scenes and the fixation on Ms Monroe's wiggling rear end when walking. Also the fact that her character was a scheming adulteress. After all this was only 1953.
To each his own, but personally I liked Jean Peters better. A total babe.
