Betty Hutton's singing

I just got finish watching this movie, I was wondering was she lip-synching to Judy Garland's voice? It sound like it to me, any opinions? BTW Great Movie!

reply

Nope. It was definitely Hutton's own voice. She was a wonderful singer in her own right, and enjoyed several Top Ten record hits for Capitol Records during her career.

I just re-watched the movie recently. I like it a lot. Great score, great performances, but the ending does bug me a little.

There's several great cds of Betty Hutton's vintage recordings, she even had a #1 record in the 1940's with "Doctor, Lawyer, and Indian Chief". I recommend checking out some of her songs on youtube.

Betty Hutton did give a Judy Garland type rendering at times during her singing of the songs. I have seen Judy's original filmed version of 'I'm An Indian Too.'

Her singing, whilst not "angelic", certainly suits the character of Annie Oakley IMO.🐭
