I am 27 and I love the George Burns and Gracie Allen Show! I pick up the $1 DVD's every chance I get, but I think I already have all four that were made. My favorite episode is the one about the Tax Man. I don't think there will ever be comedy as pure as this. I'm a fan of classic movies, too. Sometimes I think I was born after my time...
Do any of you listen to their old radio shows? I can't go to bed without listening to at least one episode on my iPod, and I'm 18. :D you can find them on archive.org, just search. Gracie's voice is so hilariously adorable.
I'm actually amazed on how many people think Gracie was ANNOYING! I thought she was fantastic, but I've read a few posts here in the IMDB of people that didn't like her at all. I just can't even begin to understand that... She was GREAT! She made the radio show, tv show & the movies.
I just found this show on Antenna TV about 3 days ago. At first watch, Gracie's VOICE was annoying for me. But her stories are so hilarious that I don't even notice it anymore. Her comedic timing was brilliant! I prefer Gracie over a LOT of other TV wives over the years.
I find Gracie very annoying, too. Her "illogical logic" routine gets real old real fast.
Wow, and I've always considered that the brilliant element of her comedy. I find myself laughing at the same silly thing I've seen dozens of times. She is one of those rare comedians who you know the minute they open their mouth, something funny is going to come out. With Gracie it seemed almost unpredictable, and that's what made it so genius.
This was on before I was born & now Antenna TV has it on from 9-10 am EST & I try to watch every day. They changed the schedule January 1, before that, it wasn't on daily & in the middle of the night.
I love this show & my roommate was standing in front of the television because he heard me laughing, he was laughing too. I had to tell him I can't see through him.
