Great Film!

Just watched this movie, and it was as good if not better than many of the better know works in this genre. Don Defore is fantastic, Scott is pure evil and the sad sack Dan Duryea makes you feel sorry for him - you know all along what's going to become of him. I saw it right after watching 'D.O.A.' (1950) with Edmond O'Brien, but I think 'Too Late...' is more even, more engaging and has better one liners. I especially liked "You're drunk!" "Takes one to spot one..."
Oh, the Colt or Smith & Wesson lipstick line was great too.

If you love film noir, you gotta see this one, a minor 'major' classic!

I just watched it last night for the first time. It brought tears to my eyes as I'm still in love with the 1940s and many movies of the era. I agree with you — it is a great classic.

Yes, Scott was definitely pure evil. I've never seen her in a role like this before.

Liz Scott´s last film, “Pulp,” from 1972, with Michael Caine and Mickey Rooney, will play on TCM on August 6 @ 11:45 AM (ET). It´s not a film noir, though, it´s a comedy thriller in which she plays an aristocratic nymphomaniac and it is considered an artistic success by film historians! I have not seen it.

¨Easy Living¨ (1949), with Victor Mature and Lucille Ball will also show on Sunday, July 26 at 8.00 am EST.

Terrific movie, a true under-the-radar noir gem that gets as close to the heart of noir as any film I've seen. Dan Duryea was the embodiment of oily villainy, but strangely sympathetic, and not only because of his charm, but because of a certain level of vulnerability, and unlike, Liz, he had something of a conscience.
And Kristine Miller was fetching as the sister. But this is Llizabeth Scott’s movie, no doubt: as duplicitous and amoral a femme fatale as you'll ever find.
Another thing about this movie I liked was the many on-location scenes, quite a lot even for noir, which had a penchant for the on-location approach. I’m not familiar enough with L.A. and environs to comment specifically but there are certainly several and the story uses the locales quite effectively.
