Didn't Bennett try to borrow $5000. even after Mason told her she only needed $2500. because he wouldn't take his half?

I was wondering the same thing. I watched the movie on youtube and the sound on part 6/6 was terrible. I'm not even sure what happened.

Apparently, Mason killed the guy and then purposely had an accident. Maybe you can help me. I'm not clear on:

1. Why did Joan want Mason to stay after he killed the guy?
2. Did Mason die?
3. What was the information she received right before her husband's phone call?

1. She had the hots for him.
2. Yup.
3. The kids saw the wreck on their way home and the police told them that Mason had confessed to the killing of Darby just before he himself died.

Yes. Apparently it is a goof. And this is unfortunate, not only because it does not make sense, but also because it would add to her frustration that she could not raise even that sum. I suspect that they filmed all the scenes of her trying to raise money at the same time, and then forgot about the reduced amount in the editing room.
