Lana turned this down!

Lana Turner turned down Emma because she was angry with MGM
for using her in two films at the same time, (Green Dolphin
Street and Cass Timberlane)and loved the story but was holding
out for Technicolor..MGM finally gave the film to the next girl
Jennifer Jones....While watching this I think Lana would have been
right in her element as the unfaithful wife who searches endlessly
for love...

I thought Lana was pregnant and couldn't do the part because of that. I think Jennifer was the better choice.

I love Lana Turner and feel she was extremely effective - in the RIGHT
role. This wasn't it. She was somehow lacking in the vulnerability
needed. Jones was the best choice.

How could Lana be pregnant in 1949? - Cheryl was born in 1942...

reply

Lana may have only had one surviving child but she had MANY pregnancies that ended in miscarriage or stillbirth.
