Understated performances -- helluva movie -- Rodolphe boooooo!
Except for Emma's breakdown at Rodolphe's house, I thought Jones' performance and the performances of the other actors were understated for that time period and subject. Speech patterns and body language were quite restrained. Not much moustache-twirling, nobody's flinging their bodies around, etc.
It was cold of Rodolphe to refuse to help her. Just one or two items from that room would probably have saved her, and at that point, it seemed she was ready to live her life with her husband and daughter.
The ballroom scene was gorgeous, and I loved how the movie ended, with the same people doing the same thing that Emma had complained about at the beginning.
