Question about the photography buff


So he switched his liquor with gasoline...wouldn't he very quickly taste it?

And at the risk of sounding like an idiot, what's with the fire? How did that start?

You have not followed the story correctly - Louis, the murderer, replaces the paraffin fuel in the darkroom lamp with petrol (gasoline)...think about how much more explosive gasoline vapour is and you'll get the right idea. The victim hides his drinking habits from his wife by keeping alcoholic beverages in large chemical bottles labelled "Developer" and "Fixer", but Louis doesn't tamper with them.
