any truth to the rumors that thier is an american emake with robion willams

Mike Nichols did float the idea of a remake with Robin Williams and Will Smith, but it was never made.

Thank heavens for small mercies. Can you imagine either of them having the subtlety and comedic genius of Dennis Price and Alec Guinness? It would have been a hideous farce in more ways than one. Look at what the Coen Brothers did to "The Ladykillers" - it was a complete travesty of the original.
