Ealing remake red alert

If anyone out there is aware of a remake of any Ealing film - especially the comedies - please post the information here. Just about every Ealing comedy seems to get a rumour of a remake but thank heaven very few seem to get the green light.

Ealing fans - be on your guard! We must be prepared to defeat these remakes at the box office wherever they show themselves!

Well, there was the ill-fated attempt to Americanise "The Ladykillers" ... I hear it was ghastly, but I refused to see it on the grounds that you can't improve on perfection.

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.

I refused to see tha film also; I think it is the only Coen brothers film I have not seen.

Well, I've seen the remake of Ladykillers numerous times, and I love it. I really dislike the original. It's one of the poorest British comedies ever made, I think.

I like the remake of Ladykillers, and I'm not ashamed to say so. In fact, I don't like the original.

Defeat these remakes? They're movies, not opponents in a football match.

I'm bumping this up to inform everyone that Kind Hearts and Coronets is now a Broadway MUSICAL called A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and it's terrific.

The reason that It has a different title is that the copyright holders of the film wouldn't agree to the adaptation and the producers knew the original novel was in the public domain. So all the names except for Sybylla were changed and a few of the deaths as well.

A Gentleman's Guide is officially based on the original novel.
