Was this movie ever remaked?

As I was watching it continuously reminded me of this movie i saw a while back. Especially the cafe scene. Both movie (this and the one i saw) had the EXACT same scene. Problem is i don't remember the name of the movie of the actor/actresses

The Shop Around the Corner (1940), starring James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan. Actually, this movie is the remake, but you could figure out that yourself by comparing the release dates.

Hi, mfan0825:

Actually, this movie was remade. It was quite a good film, too, as were the other two movies. All three were different enough, and the acting was good in all three.

The third version was called "You've Got Mail." It starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as rival bookstore owners. It was very charming movie from late 1990's.

Take care.

She Loves Me is actually a 1963 Broadway musical written by Bock & Harnick. It ran for 302 performances at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre starring Daniel Massey and Barbara Cook as the penpals.(Amalia's second act showstopper "Vanilla Ice Cream" became one of Cook's signature songs). Barbara Baxley, Ludwig Donath and Nathaniel Frey costarred. Jack Cassidy won a Tony as the cad Kodaly. The show was subsequently performing in London in 1964 (with Rita Moreno in the cast), a NY revival at Town Hall starred Madeline Kahn and Barry Bostwick in 1977 (also with Moreno). The musical was revived on Broadway in 1993 and in London in 1994.

A film version of the musical was planned to star Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, but it never came to fruition. The 1978 BBC adaptation is the only filmed record of the musical.

As of summer 2016, that last statement is no longer true. The Roundabout Theatre revival was live-streamed to Broadway HD last summer, and will be available for viewing on that website. It starred Laura Benanti, Zachary Levi, Jane Krakowski, Gavin Creel, and Tom McGowan.
