Douglas Fowley won a poll from Photoplay Magazine for best supporting actor for that role.

If it makes you feel any better, a ticked off "Pop" puts a beating on "Kipp".

One of my favorite scenes is when the squad is listening to German propaganda radio. The DJ plays a recording of "I Surrender Dear" and Kippie clicks his choppers in rhythm to the song.

I hear ya, stuff like that gets my blood boiling. I like the actor in most things I've seen him in (Singin' In The Rain, among others), I blame it on Wellman, he probably had some guy with false teeth in his squadron and just had to pass that along in the film. Could've been the writer, too, I'm blanking on his name, Ben Mankiewicz said he was the guy involved in Battleground who actually knew the infantry...either way, wish they'd have left it out.
