After the treasure is blown to the wind, would you have you gone back to the mountain?

At the end, I’m thinking that Curtin learned that happiness for him meant finding an orchard to work at, and that he didn’t need the fortune. Same with the old man, except he was returning to the village.

Still, I’d be tempted to return to the mountain.

Maybe not straight away, they had just worked 6 months straight there. If I was in their shoes though, I never would have taken all the gold at once, knowing there were bandits in the area.
