does anyone know if there is a clip of the old lady dancing on the rug on youtube?

That was Jan Clayton. There is a very similar scene in I Never Promised You A Rose Garden where Susan Tyrell as Lee tried to cheer people up at Christmas with a rollicking number called "Singing the Greens" (instead of the blues). Tyrell wrote this herself.

I thought the funniest part of the rug scene was when the nurse took off her shoes before
going onto the rug to calm the dancing woman.

IMDb says Jan Clayton did both The Snake Pit and TV's Lassie. Very versatile actress!
