I've loved this movie ever since I was 12 and I'm 16 now. I gave it a 10 on IMDb. One of my favorites of all time.

I guess since my peers (I'm 16) are so used to pathetic wastes of celluloid that us up SFX for nothing more than to glamorize a film and make a larger profit, that they feel compelled to look "cool" and not respect higher works of art, despite hor old they are.

Little do they realize, whatever they're watching now will soon become old as well.

My kids grew up watching "old" movies and so they have an eclectic taste in movies, everything from blockbusters to silent films. Appreciation of art should not be limited by age. I hope there are more teens who enjoy our movie history and I'm happy to see the few of you who responded.

If/when I have kids, I hope to do the same, to have them grow to appreciate old and, in my heavily biased opinion, better movies.

I'm 18 (and female) and I've loved Howard Hawks as a director for a long time (seriously, is there any genre this guy couldn't master?). Many people, my dad included, raised their eyebrows when I put on a western, but this is a great movie. John Wayne and Montgomery Clift were just at the top of their game (then again, I don't pretend to be an expert, as this was my first Wayne movie), the cinematography was stunning, and there was never a dull moment or character (even the Joanne Dru role I didn't find as annoying as others have; Walter Brennan was my favorite). 8/10; the ending felt just a little forced but humorous and heartfelt nonetheless.

Did he train you? Did he rehearse you? Did he tell you *exactly* what to do, what to say?!

I read your post, and realize that you must be an adult now; however, I was a teen once and enjoyed this movie very much. As an adult, I can see it as much more than the sum of its parts. Despite the inadequate resolution, I still enjoy taking that trip with Dunson (and the Garth) every time I watch this gem of a movie.

On a side note: It seems that this is Hawkes doing Ford, but the (spare) humor is more real.
