shareThat is good news. Maybe releasing it on DVD in the States will not be too far behind. I love this movie and it has been ages since I saw it.

Chech out www.scootermoviesshop.com I got myself a copy from there and it is very good quality. It comes in a regular DVD case with artwork.

And as of 2014 .... No "Rachel and the Stranger" anywhere. What is this? Is this Ted Turner keeping a death-grip on the rights to this film?
You don't get bigger stars than William Holden, Loretta Young and Robert Mitchum. Something doesn't make sense here.
It may be of interest for those located in the US: both the British and the German DVD (English audio) are regionfree, though in PAL.
In addition, the German DVD has 5 deleted scenes (ca 7 min.), but sadly these are not presented in their original audio, only in a dubbed version.
I live in France and have the dvd, "Rachel et l'etranger". It's like you'd see on Turner Classic Movies.
Unfortunately, the original length film, (with 15 minutes more) doesn't seem to be existant anywhere.
