Goof...not necessarily

Listed under Goofs is the fact that Mona was told Johnny was home sick but when he asks why his son is home the answer is because it's Saturday. This might be a mistake now but not in the 1940s and 1950s when many insurance offices were open on Saturdays, at least in the morning.

Jim Anderson (Father Knows Best) routinely had his insurance office open on Saturdays. It is so routine that there a comments in some episodes when he takes a Saturday off.

Yes, it's not a goof just because a secretary at the insurance agency answered the phone and they were open on Saturday, as insurance agencies usually are, even today. That's when they get a lot of business because so many people are off from work.

Yes, you are correct. I just watched an episode of Father Knows Best in which Margaret says it's nice to have Jim home on Saturday morning, and he says he wishes he could do that every Saturday.

You are correct missrhea. Insurance companies, banks, and other such businesses were commonly open on Saturdays back then - half the day at least - so regular M-F 9-5 workers could more easily do business with them. Submitted that goof for removal.
