Seminoles

One reviewer said Jay Silverheels was in this movie and I assume he was the one who spoke like Tonto instead of a normal human. Does anyone have information on the other actors in the family group? (I think we all know there were no princes in native society. Using Osceola as a last name is interesting.)

Don't be wet. There was no rule that everyone with a couple of lines had to be credited. Given a choice, I bet they'd rather have the casinos.

florencefosterjenkins thanks for that observation. I came here to discover more about the Seminole in the movie. And yes I wish the Indians had been credited. I'd esp like to know about the older woman.

The real point is that the people who wiped out the Seminoles were not patriots or heroes -- they were gangsters, just like Johnny Rocco, muscling in on territory that didn't belong to them!

I don't think the Seminoles were wiped out, they were just outnumbered by immigrants from Cuba and retirees from New York.

The first wars between Seminoles and the US Army and militia were along the border of Florida and Georgia; as time progressed, Seminoles were either killed, relocated west along with the Cherokee and Creek, or they moved southward. First, south of the line between Tampa and St Augustine, then into the Everglades, then limited numbers in SE and SW Florida. There were never really any groups of them in the Keys.

The Seminloes get much better treatment in the movie 'Adaptation'.
They are big on their chicky-huts.
Save all kinds of plants from extinction by digging them up and cultivating them.
