Coincidence of names?

Anyone else ever noticed that the surname (Temple) of the disabled hotelier in John Sayles' brilliant "Sunshine State" is the same as that of Lionel Barrymore's character in "Key Largo?" Can this be a coincidence? Has anyone ever seen or heard Sayles mention this? I'm also struck by the fact that Kris Kristofferson, the evil sheriff in Sayles' "Lone Star" is named Wade, the same surname as the sheriff in Key Largo. Now that HAS to be a coincidence, doesn't it? Or maybe John Sayles is as big a John Huston fan as I am.

How about Robinson's name in LITTLE CAESAR is "Rico" and in KEY LARGO it's "Rocco" - I actually don't think that is a coincidence (but could be).

As per your questions, I can't answer those...

There is also a character called Nora in the John Sayles film Silver City. Could he be a huge Key Largo fan and be trying to include a name from it in each of his major films?

Temple is the best surname ever! LOL... (It's mine)...Bogie is my favorite actor and James is a very popular name in my Temple family...My uncle, my brother's last name, two cousins...I love Key Largo. When my (Temple) great-grandparents were first married, they rented a small apartment in a house owned by a family named Bogart...hmmmm

In "Speed", Keanu Reeve's partner's name is Harry Temple.(It rhymes with my name)...so I think that it kinda cool.

JOHN Huston & JOHN Sayles... can that be a coincidence?

You know what is a coincidence- The Sheriff being named Ben Wade.

In 3:10 to Yuma, that's the same name of Russell Crowe's character. I guess it's sort of funny that in Largo, Wade is a sheriff trying to hunt down a criminal while in Yuma Wade is a criminal being hunted down by a sheriff.

I guess there are only so many names in the book, eh?
Between paying tributes to one another an a lack of imnagination, these guys keep recycling the old ones over and over, these guys keep recycling the old ones over and over. Just like that last sentence.
