. . . Bores the living snot out of me. Can I be the only one? It seems so forced end melodramatic, yet dull and pretentious.

The last 40 minutes drag considerably. We all know where it's going but takes so long to get there.

This is true, but I find the beginning, maybe 45 minutes, utterly deadly, convoluted, badly written, and boring.

Without wanting too much of personal criticism, I think you could do better. There are serious points why it might not belong into the top 250, it still is partially great movie making.
If you don't think so, fine. If, however, you wanted to convince me, you'f have to give better arguments. 'boring', 'dull' and 'pretentious' might just not be enough.
And I'd really know some reasons, arguments.
